Cats hide pain instinctively. Here are the subtle behavior changes that often mean something's wrong.

Unlike dogs, cats rarely yelp or limp obviously. Instead they get quieter, hide more, groom less, or stop jumping to their favorite spots.
A cat that suddenly avoids the litter box, sits hunched, or has a dull coat may be telling you they hurt. Weight loss and reduced appetite are late signs — don't wait for those.
If your cat's routine changes and stays changed for more than a few days, book a check. Cats are experts at compensation, and by the time it's obvious, we've usually lost precious time.
