Puppies get a series of vaccines between 6 and 16 weeks because the antibodies from mom slowly fade — and we don't know exactly when. Multiple doses ensure protection kicks in without a gap.
The core vaccines are DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo, parainfluenza) and rabies. Non-core vaccines like Lepto, Bordetella, and Lyme depend on where you live and what your puppy will do.
Skipping the final booster is the most common mistake I see. Immunity isn't complete until 1–2 weeks after the last dose in the series.
