My Dog Ate Chocolate — What Do I Do?
How much chocolate is dangerous, what symptoms to watch for, and the exact steps to take in the first hour.

Toxicity depends on three things: type of chocolate (baker's > dark > milk > white), amount eaten, and your dog's weight. A Lab that licked a milk chocolate wrapper is very different from a Yorkie that ate a dark chocolate bar.
Call ASPCA Animal Poison Control (888-426-4435) or your vet with the label. Do not induce vomiting at home unless a professional tells you to — timing and dose matter.
Watch for restlessness, tremors, rapid heart rate, vomiting, and diarrhea. Signs can start within 2 hours and last more than 24.
